StormLink ALERT2 Data Logger

A powerful and flexible data logger and controller designed with the field technician in mind. The StormLink ALERT2 Data Logger accepts up to 8 analog inputs plus digital sensors including SDI-12, shaft encoders, precipitation, wind speed, wind direction, and peak gust, and logs everything to a removable 16 GB SD card.

Connections use plug-in terminal strips for quick disconnect, so installation and replacement are fast. Firmware upgrades download via USB in seconds. Each sensor is independently configurable using Insight software: set sample intervals, event thresholds, transmission hold-off times, and logging intervals without touching other sensors. When battery voltage drops below 10.5V, RF transmissions stop automatically while logging continues. Lightning protection is standard on all inputs.

StormLink ALERT2 Data Transmitter

A compact, full-featured data logger and telemetry device built for hydrological and meteorological monitoring including flood warning, stream and reservoir monitoring, rainfall measurement, and weather observation networks. The StormLink ALERT2 Data Transmitter handles up to 20 sensor inputs and transmits data in ALERT2 Binary Standard format with forward error correction and full engineering values.

TDMA reporting assigns each station its own transmission time slot, eliminating the data collisions common in older ALERT networks, even during high-intensity storm events when you need the data most. An on-board GPS receiver keeps timing accurate. Configuration is done on a laptop using Insight software, on site or in the office. Program settings save to a file, so recovering a failed station is straightforward. Available in a canister version or a fiberglass enclosure version.

StormLink ALERT2 Controller

A two-way ALERT2 controller built for High Water Detection Systems and other inclement weather warning applications. The StormLink ALERT2 Controller doesn’t just report; it acts. When water levels cross a programmed threshold, it simultaneously commands remote units to activate public warning devices including flashing beacons, electronic message signs, sirens, and barrier gates. When levels drop, it sends the all-clear.

This 4-channel system works in a master-and-remotes configuration and is configurable as a master gauging station, a remote warning site, or both. It also supports fog, high wind, and snow/ice detection systems for roadways and public access areas, as well as dam and pump station applications. Integrates directly with AEM Elements® 360 for centralized monitoring and remote command.

Frequently Asked Questions

ALERT2 is the current-generation standard for real-time radio hydrologic warning. It improves on the original ALERT format with two-way communication, TDMA-based collision-free reporting, forward error correction, and full engineering values — all of which increase reliability across large multi-station networks.

Yes. ALERT2 is designed with a phased upgrade path in mind, so you don’t have to replace your entire network at once. StormLink ALERT2 products are compliant with the NHWC ALERT2 standard and interoperable with the broader ALERT2 ecosystem, making them a straightforward upgrade path for agencies transitioning from legacy ALERT systems.

Yes. AEM Elements 360 can receive data from and send commands to StormLink ALERT2 devices, giving operators a centralized view of network status and the ability to trigger remote actions from a single interface.

Yes. TDMA reporting assigns each station its own transmission time slot, which eliminates the data collisions common in older ALERT networks — including during high-intensity storm events when network traffic is highest.

The Controller supports flashing beacons, electronic message signs, sirens, solar-powered cameras, and automatic barrier gates via relay outputs (relays sold separately).
